The history of Beihai Park: It was built since the Jin Dynasty, centered around Qionghua Island during the Yuan Dynasty, and established the scale of the Three Seas during the Ming Dynasty. In the eighth year of the Shunzhi reign of the Qing Dynasty (1651), giant lama pagodas and Buddhist temples were built, and Wanshou Mountain was renamed Baita Mountain. During the Qianlong period, the buildings on Qionghua Island were renovated, and palaces, pavilions, and courtyards were built on the north and northeast banks.
Main attractions:
Xiao Xitian: Built by Emperor Qianlong to celebrate his mother's birthday, the main building is the Pure Land, which is the largest square pavilion style palace building in China.
Nine Dragon Walls: There are only three remaining Nine Dragon Walls in China, namely Datong, the Forbidden City, and Beihai Park. The Nine Dragon Walls here are double-sided walls with a total of 635 coiled dragons of different sizes.
Xitian Fanjing: also known as Daxitian, it was a lama temple during the Ming Dynasty.
Jingxin Zhai: It is the most exquisite garden in Beihai Park, which can be seen just a few steps from the North Gate 2. It is the place where the prince studies.
White Pagoda: a landmark of Beihai Park. In the eighth year of the Shunzhi reign of the Qing Dynasty (1651), a Tibetan style white pagoda was built on the abandoned site of Guanghan Hall to promote ethnic harmony.
