The predecessor of Chongqing Machine Tool (Group) Co., Ltd. was founded in 1940, then known as Huaxi branch of China Automobile Company; After the founding of new China, it developed into 201 plant under the southwest ministry of industry; In the 1950s, it was designated by the state as one of China's 18 machine tool manufacturing enterprises, historically known as "Eighteen Arhats", specializing in manufacturing gear processing machine tools. In 1963, it was renamed Chongqing machine tool factory. It has successfully trial produced China's first gear hobbing machine, gear shaving machine, gear shaper and worm gear mother machine. It is the cradle of the birth of China's gear making equipment. The enterprise established Chongqing machine tool group after integrating the former Chongqing No. 2 machine tool factory and Chongqing tool factory in 2005.
