  Robots are intelligent machines capable of semi-autonomous or fully autonomous operation. Robots can perform tasks such as work or movement through programming and automatic control.  

  During the Western Zhou period, Chinese skilled craftsmen, Yan Shi, developed performers who could sing and dance.  

Robots have basic features such as perception, decision-making, and execution. They can assist or even ｒｅｐｌａｃｅ humans in completing dangerous, heavy, and complex tasks, improving work efficiency and quality, serving human life, and expanding or extending the range of human activities and capabilities.  

  In 2021, one-third of surgeries in the United States were performed using robotic systems.  

  In 2023, scientists at Arizona State University (ASU) in the United States developed the world's first outdoor walking robot model that can sweat, shiver, and breathe like a human. On July 13, 2025, it was reported that during the conflict in Ukraine, for the first time, Russian combat personnel were captured in a mission fully carried out by robotic forces without direct human infantry intervention. On August 19, it was reported that the world's first "gestation robot" is expected to be launched within a year. Since September, property insurance companies have been actively creating specialized insurance products offering a dual coverage layout of "robot body damage insurance and third-party liability insurance."
